Missouri Campus Compact recently received a continuation grant for year three of the Missouri Campus Compact Community-Campus Partnership Project (M4C2P)providing the project with nine (9) VISTA Members and one (1) VISTA Leader. The M4C2P program places AmeriCorps*VISTA Members on college and university campuses across the state to strengthen service-learning and civic engagement while working to eradicate poverty among single female heads of household with children under 18 living in the home.
Participating Missouri Campus Compact member campuses include Cottey College (Nevada), Missouri Southern State University (Joplin), Rockhurst University (Kansas City), St. Louis Community College - Meramec (St. Louis), Truman State University (Kirksville), University of Central Missouri (Warrensburg), University of Missouri –St. Louis (St. Louis), William Woods University (Fulton), and Washington University in St. Louis (St. Louis). The AmeriCorps*VISTA Leader is located at Missouri State University (Springfield) in the Missouri Campus Compact office.
AmeriCorps*VISTA is a federally funded program devoted to fighting our nation’s “war on poverty,” and is often referred to as the “domestic Peace Corps.” VISTA stands for Volunteers in Service to America, and is comprised of volunteers who dedicate between one to three years of service while receiving only a cost of living stipend.
