Missouri Campus Compact

From the Executive Director

Melissa Mace

Since 2000, Missouri Campus Compact has worked with colleges and universities across the state to deepen civic engagement initiatives in higher education. With 39 member institutions, activities on campuses across the state range from just getting started with Service-Learning to considering how public scholarship should be included in the tenure and promotion process.

Because Missouri Campus Compact strives to support all of our member campuses no matter where their place on the civic engagement continuum, we work to offer a variety of services ranging from micro-grants for developing a Service-Learning course and supporting Service-Learning research, to sponsoring meetings and conversations around topics relevant to the field.

On a national level, Campus Compact works legislatively to increase funding in service and service-learning, including actively endorsing the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act passed by the House and Senate and currently awaiting signature by President Obama. This Act will increase the number of Education Awards to 250,000, ultimately helping to provide a college education for more Missourians while strengthening our local communities.

With warm regards,

Melissa K. Mace, Executive Director
