Missouri Statewide Award Winners 2011

Faculty, staff, and community partners across Missouri received recognition at the Campus Compact Heartland Conference this September in Overland Park, Kansas. The 2011 Missouri Statewide Award winners are:

The Community Engagement Professional of the Year

The Community Engagement Professional of the Year award recognizes one professional from a member campus in Missouri who has worked toward the institutionalization of academic service-learning and/or service, created and strived toward a vision of service for his/her campus, promoted higher education as a public good, provided exceptional support to faculty and students, and has been instrumental in forming innovative campus-community partnerships.

The Outstanding Community & Campus Collaboration Award

The Outstanding Community & Campus Collaboration award recognizes a sustained campus-community partnership in the state of Missouri that demonstrates a true partnership as evidenced by 1) community agency involvement in the development of the course goals and learning outcomes; 2) measurable impact (qualitative and quantitative) on students, faculty and institution; 3) measurable impact on the lives of those served by the community agency; 4) commitment of community agency to student learning.

The Excellence in Community-Based Teaching & Scholarship Award

The Excellence in Community-Based Teaching & Scholarship award recognizes one faculty member from a member campus in Missouri who has 1) successfully incorporated service-learning into at least one course with demonstrable outcomes and 2) conducted outstanding research in the field of service-learning and engaged scholarship.

For Students

The Semester of Service Award

The Missouri Campus Compact Semester of Service program encourages students to give their time and talents to neighborhood organizations, and offers a tool for recognizing students for their efforts. When students provide service (through volunteering, service-learning, or a combination of service opportunities) to neighborhood organizations or government agencies over the course of a single semester, they track their hours with the Semester of Service Passport. At the end of the semester, students who have provided 45 hours or more of service will be eligible to receive the following:

  •  A Certificate of Service 
  •   Community Contributor.........45 hours
  •   Community Changer.............70 hours
  •   Community Catalyst............100 hours
  •  Missouri Campus Compact website recognition
  •  A letter of recognition to the student
  •  A letter to the president of the student’s institution
  •  Two letters to people (parents, employers, coaches, instructors, etc.) identified by student

Institutions/students may order the Passports at a cost of $1.00 per Passport. Shipping/handling charges are included in the price of the Passport.
